Bring Back Bill Clinton

It's the economy, stupid!

When Clinton was in office we had hope. He presided over a fabulous economic period in American history. Before there were the disastrous Bush policies that brought us the catastrophe of 2008, before we had new stimulus packages every other week that hinders more than it helps, we had a President that was in touch with the American people. We had a good economy, we had new products people wanted to buy, people had money to buy the new products on the market, and we had new jobs, millions and millions of them.

We should change the twenty-second amendment ruling of only a two term President. You should be able to only have two consecutive terms as a President, then after someone else is in office for at least one term I believe you should be able to run again.

Bill Clinton accomplished many things while in office. During his presidency there were more than 22 million jobs created, the most ever under a single administration. Because of his economic and strategic planning we got to see a record 115 months of economic expansion. We had the lowest unemployment rate that we had in over 30 years; the unemployment rate was at a 4.0%. Clinton expanded financial aid for students going to college; he thought that educating young Americans was a good thing! This country had a very low crime rate, the overall crime rate declined for 8 consecutive years. Clinton signed the Family and Medical Leave Act in 1993; giving 20 million Americans unpaid leave to care for a newborn child or sick family member. Clinton gave us higher incomes across the board; the bottom 20 percent saw the largest income growth at 16.3 percent. Clinton paid off $363 billion of the national debt, thanks to the lowest government spending in over 30 years.

Love him or hate him he was a good President. You can argue that point with me all that you want to. But I guarantee that every American benefited from more than one of Clinton’s accomplishments that I have listed above.

At the very least if we did not amend the twenty-second amendment, then the Democrat’s should be at least smart enough to make him the Secretary of the Treasury. The kind of charisma and communication skills possessed by Clinton alone could bring us back from the brink of despair.

Being Canadian I can't vote for him, however, I'm not sure that bringing him back will improve things. Much of what is going on is out of the hands of Obama, and was also out of the hands of Bush. Have you heard of 'Peak Oil'? Whoever is the next president, whether it is Obama or someone else, things will not improve.

I think Americans have a tough road ahead of them for at least the next 20 years. This could be stopped by having the right people in the right offices though.

Hello daskitlez, some interesting facts here.

I would add President Clinton was also seen around the world as an international assett to the US. His involvement in several international crises was seen as positive action, such as his assistance in ending the "Troubles" in Northern Ireland through negotiation.

Much of the money he cut from the government budget was the so called "peace dividend" created by the end of the Cold War as the US saw less spending in foreign bases around the world.

Much of the goodwill President Clinton created was then squandered by both President G.W. Bush AND President Obama with their more isolationist attitudes and America knows best ways. His more open attitude to international problems could have been a greater asset in the current international economic crisis.

Today's problems are not just problems for the US they are global problems which need international cures, but our politicians seem to think mudslinging at home is the best cure.

Dude you have to do is bring back the Clinton Era tax rate. which would have paid off the national debt by 2002.

While I don't agree with your premise that Clinton was a good President, I liked your hub.

I love this article! I have said many times before they should get rid of the two term law, based on Bill Clinton himself. The economy was great, the world was at a sense of peace, and he was by far the best president I had ever seen. I wish Hillary would have got in. I believe she would of ran a similar course. I agree, 20 years of bad fortunes if not longer. You know it is bad when America has lost their credit rating. I agree 100%, bring Bill back, with or without Monica:) Very well put.

I would definitely support a "Bring Back Bill" movement. Get me a bumper sticker!

There's so much talk about unemployment in the US today, and as pointed out in the above article, the country had a record high level of job creation while he was in office.

We should have the honesty to give credit where it is due. The good that he did far outweighed any personal mistakes. Who are we looking for,a perfect person?
